Day 4 Blogtoberfest - My Creative Space

I am one of those people who likes to keep busy, so I always carry a project I can work on in my purse. Although it's the school holidays, the children have had an hour and twenty minutes of swimming lessons each morning, so I have been working on finishing up some felt strawberries and blueberries.

I might have also finished a lamington...

or tim tam or two:)

Hope you are getting lots done in your creative space this week, little or big:) To see what others have been up to be sure to vist My Creative Space. Cyndy Pin It

My Creative Space

The creative process is an interesting one, and probably different for everyone. As I prepare for an upcoming market I am reminded of my creative strengths and weaknesses. I love creating new things, and I am excited that others will be able to see them soon. I am not so good, however, with the repetitive processes required to create more than one of something.

This week I have been working on more Australian biscuit and cake felt food sets. I have decided to focus on making multiples of one biscuit at a time. That means cutting, embroidering, sewing and stuffing the same biscuit or cake, over and over and over. Not sure this is really working for me. How do you handle repetitive creative tasks?

Hope you are getting lots of things done in your creative space, whether they are one offs or repetitive tasks:) And be sure to visit My Creative Space to see what others have been up to this week. Cyndy Pin It

My Creative Space

What is it about felt food? I so enjoy trying to figure out how to make something from felt: the shape, the colours, the matching emboidery floss. And then there is the puzzle - how to make something look like the real thing, or at least enough so that you will recognize it!

This week I have been finishing up a few felt food items including some cucumber slices, fairy bread (which I started a couple of weeks ago) and lamingtons. I have also been working on some new felt food "designs". Design is a loose word for me, as I have a tendency to just start cutting the felt with nothing more than a notion in my head:) It is fun to see though how it turns out.

This week also marks the first sale from my new madeit shop! I can't tell you how exciting that was - I couldn't sleep I was so excited! Ironically it was two of my felt food pieces. So nice when something you really like also turns out to be something someone else really likes:)

I hope lots of good stuff is happening in your space today - visit here to see more creative spaces. Cyndy Pin It

Anzac Day and Felt Food

As part of our Anzac day activities the kids and I made Anzac biscuits using a friend's family recipe - yummy! I've been working on another batch of Anzac biscuits - felt ones!

I have become a little bit obsessed with felt food. It's so easy to make and it's a great project to bring along when I know there will be wait time (e.g. swimming lessons, doctors appointments). In researching felt food on the internet I have been struck though by how homogenized it is - I haven't seen much that takes into account some of our Aussie favorites, hence my attempt to make Anzac biscuits and pavlova...

and tim tams...

and lamingtons...

Are you sensing a theme here? Why is it that desserts/sweets make the best felt food? OK, I have made a salad sandwich which is a little generic, but I did put beetroot on it:)

If you are thinking about making felt food there is lots of help and inspiration on the internet here and here  and a flickr pool here. I also just read a  review of a new book  (haven't see the actual book) called Big Little Felt Universe at Feeling Stitchy that looks like it has lots of great info. Cyndy
